SCHOOLHOUSE EVENTS
Many events have been held at the school over the years. In the early 20th century, the school also served as a church. In the 1960's and 1970's the Kragero Community Club, comprised of local residents, would hold events such as bingo parties. More current events are showcased below. We hope to see more community events at the school in the future.
Life in the Past Lane
Life in the Past Lane is an event hosted each June by the Erickson family. Descended from the original builders of the schoolhouse, they offer a three day "old-fashioned" school experience to grade school children. You can sign up for the next Life in the Past Lane by ______________________.
4th of July Celebrations
Starting in the 1990's, schoolhouse owners Tom Barthel and Gail Wilkinson organized an annual 4th of July celebration. They invited neighbors and had a horse-drawn parade, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, and a picnic. According to local history, there were also parades at the school in the 1930's.
Kragero Picnics/Reunions
Class reunions were held as early as the 1930's and as recently as 2018;
In 1973, local mothers joined together to form a 4H club, which met monthly at the schoolhouse. Each mother orchestrated different educational activities for the participating children. Many fun events took place at the schoolhouse - from holiday parties and plays to weekly summer softball games and fall hayrides. It's been said that there was a different 4H club at the schoolhouse in the 1960's, named the Kragero Klovers.
